Observations from the bus

On my way home today I took a bus with some very stylish people.

She had the most gorgeous red shoes.

He had a striking scarf.

Using Flash

The animation I will pitch this December has an elephant character. Its going to be quite detailed, so I tried to check if my watercolor sketch could be copied in Flash. See what you think;

The textures from zen textures and the frame from About.com (link) Put together in Photoshop. Portrait done by me. Looking forward to paper cutting and some painting this weekend, provided I get my coursework done.

More hair

Love productive days! Saw some wonderful window shop displays at Piccadilly. Here is a continuation of the hair portraits.

Thinking about cutting this portrait and adding to a decorative frame.

Used to drawCarmen Miranda throughout my childhood. I loved her crazy hats and energy.

Minnie

Minnie is a character I've been working on for a while. She used to play the double bass. Here are some designs of her.

Hair

 

Been doodling ladies with big hair, combination between Georgian, Geisha and 70's 'fro. Working towards making little portraits. There is so much in my mind lately. If I had big hair like these women- all my thoughts would be stored there, and then I'd cut it all off.

Jellyfish women

Continuation of the jellyfish/mermaids. Pure fantasy- trying out ink, watercolours and watercolour pencils.

 Never liked jellyfish- I used to jump around the sea trying to avoid the little buggers. And they weren't even the stinging ones. Yet I find the deadly types incredibly beautiful, like the box jelly-fish.

Elephant ink

The idea I have for the graduate animation pitch is about an elephant meeting a young boy. Its based on an encounter I had with an elephant eons ago on a family safari. 

This is an Asian elephant though. Ink and watercolor study.

So we are beginning to build a 3d character, so i started out with designs using shapes, inspired by Bill Ledger's work, I came up with these.

This is what happens when you start watching too much America's Next Top Model. You start drawing weirdly proportioned ladies . 

The man on the right has the same expression I had throughout last week. You will notice I draw a lot of neck and shoulders.

Its been a long time since I've used ink.

It has also been a long weekend, trying to get this blog running so here are several sketches.

And here is the smiling hula girl. She is the current face of the blog. Find the flat, 60-ish illustrations style, appealing- so I tried to recreate this.
