My unintentional tribute to Matisse and Hockney.

So this started with some shoe doodles, then to some fashion sketches (like the one above) that ended up with a swimming pool bathers . So I'm going to print a series out of these! So excited. Learning Illustrator for this as well- so much to do! 

 I love the cool palette of a pool in a hot climate.  Let me know what you think of these.
Might make cards of them and send them to you ;-)

I'm having problems with the calibration settings on my old mac, so I've been taking sketches in and out of this blog as the colours don't come out as I expected. 

Also. I want to start making prints.

Digital painting practice 1: Neon

During my animating time, I often took 'breaks' by doing digital painting.

So I am posting some works I have done since Easter. This is the first. 

I did it because I wanted to get better at digital painting, so I chose the subjects I draw best: the female figure.

I wanted to capture the sense of euphoria you experience when listening to your favorite song.

So I made a character called 'Neon'.

Sketches to share

Couple of days ago I decided to join 'meetups'. I joined "Artists and Illustrators" and other drawing groups because I get lonely. And want to draw better.

This was from the performance by musicians from the Royal College of Music, at Royal Festival Hall, Southbank.  Its hard to tell since I only drew heads and most of them are the audience.

  It took me time to get into it really but I managed to produce some convincing profiles....well, some.

 The gentleman above was my favorite not because I had grasped the biro by then, but because of his expression. He really enjoyed the music, expressing his appreciation by nodding along with closed eyes.
